Ladies, gentlemen: Help needed!
I'm a South African, in the IT industry and i have an ok job, pays the bills etc. But as you all know, the world cup is coming to South Africa.Alot of money will exchange hands during the time and i have no idea how i'm gonna get a piece of it,at least not concrete ideas.

Listen to this idea, i'm looking to do sms marketing/campagns, also WAP. You see, people do not access internet on their phones as much as they do on the normal PCs yet in Africa. But the truth is, it's just a matter of time before everybody gets on the act.I want to be there, and ready when that happens, BUT HOW!?

On the sms campaigns side, there's alot of potential. The market is getting saturated fast but there's still room for new, innovative campaings!Any ideas!?

I've thought of starting an online community website, which is WAP enabled and then, when the community has grown look to sell advertising space but that's conventional. How do i tap into the market!?

I have to say that the SMS marketing I've seen has only really worked when it was attached to an event. (besides the late night sleazy texts)

Night clubs do well with them. 'Special drink deals this Tuesday at Bob's' that sort of thing.

If anyone else sees more potential I'd be interested to hear your view.

Football score update services do well here in the UK. Although this is usually on a Saturday when you have lots of games. Not too sure how it would work for a WC.

You could try a World Cup Dream Team service, which we also do over here. People could check their progress on wap. Try www.dreamteamfc.com for inspiration.

A mobile football betting service would work well too if you go through licencing issues.

Coca Cola did a thing in the UK (again) where they got people to text in to them (with a code from their cans). They offered the chance for a lower division sides fan to win a Million Pounds for his team to buy a player. I thought this was a great idea.

There's some to be getting along with!
